July-Aug: Before and After the MPS conference

We had planned on breaking up the drive a bit on our final destination, Table Rock, MO. So we left Wed night drove about 5 hours and stayed outside Springfield, IL for the night. We woke up and headed to St. Louis, where we would stay Thurs-Sat for the MPS conference. Before we could check in, I googled so fun things to do with kids in St. Louis. Granted, it was over 100 degrees, I thought why not do something outside (refer to my blog post about the farmers market top 10 list for more info about my hair-brain outings with my kiddos) ?! Anyway, we stumbled on the coolest place we could have found, the Museum of Transportation! It was so awesome! It had old trains, snacks, air-conditioning in some areas, a huge indoor warehouse for the kids to play (all appropriate things for J and B) and a little train we rode outdoors. It really was a perfect stop, all things considered. Jayden cried a bit on the train, but overall, really enjoyed being there.

After the MPS conference, we continued to Sue’s house in Branson, MO. We love staying there because it really is a home away from home. We were able to settle in great but found it challenging to find things to do. It was the hottest it had been in 25 years! Temps were at 100+ most of the time so indoors was the way to go. We did everything on the MO trip checklist: boat, eat out, swim, 4-wheel, wal-mart, the landing, TJMaxx, and our newest addition, Leona’s. It is always a great time hanging with Sue, Ben, and Jodelle. We also bought a kiddy swimming pool and took it to another level by blowing it up and sitting around/in it on the porch! So much fun! Jut and I survived the drive home 10+ hours straight…Praise God for DVD players in the car! Thanks Melissa Ness for house sitting!
